I Heart New Zealand

It all started on the 20th July 2014, my family and I went for a vacation to Australia and New Zealand. We went to many amazing places and I also had an amazing time there too.

Hobbiton

We began the journey at Melbourne, and stayed there for 5 days and 4 nights. At Melbourne, we just relax, eat, sleep (aka life) and meet my family and stuff but when it comes to shopping, kill me now, I know you might think that I love shopping but I hate it oops. I also heard that my friend Sherrie and Caleb, also went to Melbourne to help their sisters to settle in Melbourne as they are going to study there for a few years. Sadly, I didn't met them.

After 5 days at Melbourne, we went to the airport and continue our journey to Auckland, New Zealand. We settle into the hotel and since we had a midnight flight, we slept so soundly until noon. In the second day, we just walk around the city and bought many souvenirs since this was the first time we went to New Zealand. The third day was really a memorable day. We went for a 2-hour drive and went to Hobbiton, where the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit trilogies were filmed. There, we could see many places such as where the houses of the hobbits' are, the Green Dragon and so many more!

We also went to Rotorua, a 3-hour drive from Auckland, and stayed there for 3 days. As Rotorua was once a place where the local natives lived, we got to see many of them performing their traditional song and dance, they have lovely voices to be honest. We also went up a helicopter to see active volcanoes and we also get to walk on them seeing beuatiful sceneries, seeing many sulphur and gas reactions. It was really exciting until we had to go home.

The last part of my journey ends in Sydney where I met my Grandparents. We stayed there for 5 days and mostly did what we did on Melbourne. Oh right, we also went to a ranch/zoo and we saw kangaroos and koalas, even the sumatran tigers!

Stars of Hope

The book "Number the Stars" written by Lois Lowry inspired and helped lots of people including myself. The title "Number the Stars" comes from the bible,  written in Psalm 147:4, it says "He who numbers the stars one by one." It tells us about being brave, risking our life to safe other people's. Number the Stars opens with a ten-year-old Annemarie Johansen, her little five-year-old sister, Kirsti and her best friend, Ellen Rosen who lived in Copenhagen during the World War II. When the Nazi would arrest and relocate all the Jewish Danish citizens, Annemarie risked her life saving her Jewish best friend, Ellen, from being caught by the Nazi soldiers. By the time the Nazi was trying to do it, Kirsti, a chatty and feisty girl who was never afraid about the situation, kept blabbering to the soldiers. Annemarie was very brave and her loyalty to Ellen stood out for the very best as she would do whatever it took for protecting Ellen's needs.

At the beginning, I got quite bored with the story but after I read up to Chapter 6, things started to get interesting. The book fascinated me because it taught us many valuable things for our lives. One of the best lessons in this story is about being brave of taking risks and overcoming the fears. I also realize another important lesson that I gained is to appreciate the gifts from God. In the story, Annemarie appreciated all the things she had such as her family, her best friend, and even though when she couldn't be able to have cupcakes and sweets, she still gave thanks of what her family provided to eat and drink. Unlike me, I sometimes hate my mom's cooking, but I know I need to appreciate her cooking's right now because not all the people in the world can have the foods we are eating nowadays.

This book is based on a true story when Denmark was invaded on the 1940 and as we learn throughout the story, we might come down to some metaphors. One of them is the Star of David necklace that Ellen wore which symbolizes the Jews. Ellen represents people with problems in their life, Annemarie represents people who trying to conquer their fears and Kirsti is the embodiment of blissful and innocence. As you can see, characters could also be metaphors and could teach us many important things in our life.

"Number the Stars" is a fascinating book and I would give the book a score of 9 out of 10. I really recommend this book to every one especially people who are trying to overcome their fears and problems in their life. I hope that you enjoyed this book and learned many valuable things in life like I did.

Singapore Study Trip

Hi everyone, I know that I haven't been here for a longggg time so, I am going to post a blog about my school's study trip to Singapore. Let's Go!!


On the 23rd of March 2014, me and my fellow classmates, are going to Singapore for a Study Trip. Our flight was from Bandung directly to Singapore. (Long ago, if you are living in Bandung, you have to go to Jakarta first then Singapore.) So we arrived at Singapore's Changi Airport around 9.30 in the morning. Not long enough, we took our luggage and went straight to the Anderson's Dorm, where we will be staying, at Yio Chu Kang. We arrived there at around 10.30am and we were given rooms keys that we should look after because if we lose it, we have to pay.

After putting our luggage at our dorms, we went straight to Universal Studios (USS) to have fun! We had a blast there. I rode four rides that included the Transformers, Revenge of the Mummy, Jurassic Park, and Elmo's blablabla ( I forgot..). I also bought souvenirs for my brother and for the class. Then, we went for dinner at Vivo City where I ate Chicken Rice and for dessert, I bought some rainbow pudding.

We returned late at night and I took a quick shower because I was so tired and the next day we have to get ready for school.. ugh. I slept quite soundly with my roommate, Izumi.

I woke up at 4.30 in the morning because I have to wash my hair. Not long enough, Izumi also woke up. We had shower with cold water because there was no hot water. I was shivering when I was done taking a shower. I quickly changed into my school's uniform and brushed my teeth. Actually, I felt so hyper and I don't know why.

I went to the lobby and have breakfast with my friends. For a school's dorm, the breakfast was delicious! We had a quick breakfast and off we go to school.

We had to walk about 20 minutes to reach our school. We are going to Anderson Secondary School. We will be studying there from Monday until Thursday.

At the first day of school, we have to go attend a assembly with the whole school. The school's Principal went up the stage and gave a warm speech to welcome us. Our principal, Ma'am Hartati, also gave a friendly speech to the school. They also exchange gifts. We gave them a handwork art made by us, Indonesians, while they gave the teachers, Ma'am Hartati, Ma'am Liani, and Ma'am Melina a goody bag sort of thing.

After giving the goody bags, we were excused and we went to the auditorium to watch a short video and they also gave us goody bags. Then the student councilors gave us a tour around the school as we followed them, we saw many classes that we don't have in SMPK 1 BPK PENABUR like cooking classes, drama classes and many more!

At around 11.00am we began our lessons and I was introduced in class 2/6 along with Catherine and Axell. I also got a buddy named Hannah, she said that she was one of the oldest in the class but it didn't matter. She was a very talkative girl and she was also friendly. Catherine's buddy name was Jia Yi and Axell's buddy name was Matin.

At 12.30pm, we went to the library to get some lunch and we finished school at this time. we ate quickly because most of us are excited to go to Orchard.

We walked our way home to the dorm and get changed out of our school uniform to normal clothes. Then, we gather at the lobby and went to the MRT station to go to Orchard.

At Orchard, I went shopping with my friend, Angel. We were supposed to gather in Ngee Ann City at the waterfall. I shopped a lot there because I have to get a iPod casing that my brother wanted. Whereas, Angel saved money for Bugis because she want to buy lots of stuff there.

We reached the Anderson School Dorm around 8.30pm and we took a bath and get dressed to go to sleep.

On Tuesday, (a.k.a the 2nd day of school), we have to go straight to our classes, put our bags and take our valuables and went for assembly. Then, we continued the day with lessons until 12.30pm and that's when we have to go to the library for lunch. We went to the dorm again change our clothes and get ready to go to China Town.

At China Town, we only bought Bee Cheng Hiang, a shop that sells "Deng -Deng". We planned about going to the museum but, afraid that we will be late for gathering. We went to the dorm to get some sleep again as we still have to go to school tomorrow.

On Wednesday, (a.k.a the 3rd day of school), we have no assembly so we go straight to the lessons and as usual at 12.30pm we go to the library and take our lunch. After we finished lunch we go to the dorm to get ready to go the Bugis Junction and gather at the lobby.

At Bugis, me and my friends are planning to by the same shirt that we wil wear later. We also went to Smiggle, the famous stationery store there. We ate dinner and not long enough, we have to go back to the gathering place.

On Thursday, (a.k.a. the last day of school), we had assembly and then we continued to our lessons. As  usual, at 12.30pm we went to the library to get some lunch. Since it's the last day we will be on Anderson, most of us do "selfies" with our buddies. We will miss them. After lunch, we went to the dorm and gather at the lobby and went to the MRT station to go to Marina Bay.

There at Marina Bay, we went to Marina Barrage and Garden by the Bay. We didn't go to the glass structure thingy at Garden by the Bay because we have to pay for it. So we just sat there and take some look at the nature. Because all the restaurants there was expensive, we ended up eating at Ang Mo Kio. I also bought some souvenirs there. We went to the dorm again and get some rest for tomorrow. I slept at at around 11 o'clock because there was no school tomorrow.

On Friday, we went to a exhibition at ACS and then went for lunch at some sort of food court near ACS. For dinner we went to Novena and I ate Burger King. There was nothing to do there at Novena so me and my friends just enjoy the free wifi. After we finished, we went back to the dorm and pack all our things because tomorrow we are going back to Bandung.

We went to the Science Center at the last day. I went to several exhibits there. After Science Center, straight to the bus to go to the airport. On the way to the airport, I slept because I was very tired.

We spent hours checking in because there was so many of us. My luggage was not heavy while most of my friends, sorry to say have heavy luggage.. We went in the airport after checking in just for lunch and last minute souvenirs.

At the airplane I watched a reality show from my phone that I downloaded before boarding the plane.

I had a fantastic time in Singapore with my friends and hoped that there will be more trips like this. I should thank my teachers for the wonderful trip.

Our Trip to Singapore

We are going to have a school field trip in 23 March 2014 which is less in a month. Our school Principal, Ma'am Hartati says that as soon as we get there, we are going to put our luggage first at the dorm we are staying and we are going straight to Universal Studios Singapore.. >.< super excited!!

We are staying at the Anderson's school dorms and also we are going to study there for a week. My roommate is Izumi.. We can't wait until 23rd of March!! Ma'am Hartati also says that whilst we are there, we are going to shop to Bugis and Orchard Road :). 

Well, we have to be at the Bandung airport in well.. maybe in the morning.. yea.. I haven't get much information about the flight schedule and such. Maybe I'll post some photos and put them in my blog here.
